All Work No Play

I just thought I'd show you something I've been working on recently. If you go back a few weeks I talked about not being able to find bras for my small boobs, except now the high street has got a hold of these 'soft bras' and they're not like training bras, they lacey and flirty and dainty, and oh so cute! However some of them come at quite a price for how little material there is. I also find that they are still slightly too big. So I dug out my faithful Winifred Aldrich Pattern Cutting for Womenswear book and got to work.
Sadly, there was no easy way to make a bra. In the book I had there wasnt a Lingerie section, the only way I could figure out how to do it was to make close fitting bodice block and go from there. Lots of research, about 10 toiles and endless patterns, I got somewhere.
This image is my pattern pieces and my final toile, which fits really well, however, seeing as I made it in the leftover fabric from my last project, that wasnt great.
I took to town to buy some lace and tried with that. I wanted to try a couture technique I had learned while interning at CoutureMango.

Now, that definitely needs working on, but I really want to make these bras unique and special so I will keep working at it. I will try different laces, different cottons and different techniques, but I'll get there!
